Meet the Tiny Hearts

Mini Horses, Micro Donkeys, and a Norwegian Goat

Our animal family includes six miniature horses, two micro donkeys, and a very curious Norwegian goat.

These gentle souls move freely across the sanctuary and often choose which visitors to spend time with.

They teach us presence, peace, and joy—and their playful spirits remind us to slow down, breathe, and simply be.

Miniature Horses

From the Falabella line, these tiny horses are lighter-boned than ponies, with graceful builds and big personalities.

Micro Miniature Donkeys

Small in stature but full of courage, these donkeys are natural protectors and loyal companions to the herd.

Nigerian Goats

Playful and mischievous, these tiny goats bring laughter and lighthearted fun to every day.

Honey (Honey Bunches of Oates) – this beautiful blue eyed, cremello was the first horse to join the family.  He has a fantastic personality, and loves to make people laugh.  He is largest of the mini horses.  Honey is also the Lead male, protector of the herd.  He was 2 years old when he came here, already being moved between a few homes through no fault of his own.  Honey is now 6 years old.

Close-up of Daisy, a dark brown miniature horse with a small white star marking on its forehead, standing on grass in autumn.

Daisy – (Darling Daisy Mae) – the second horse to come to the farm.  She had been in a difficult state physically and mentally.  At 9 years old, Daisy has developed into a strong leader as the female dominate for the herd.  She keeps the herd moving and likes to get them all running.

Close-up of Buster, a brown miniature horse with a long dark mane streaked with white, standing in a grassy pasture.

Buster – (Buster Brown) I really wish I had of named him Fabio.   This little boy is so darling.   He came from a rescue in British Columbia and is now 4  years old.  He loves to run with Honey and Daisy, but when tired you can find him with Rosie.    Chester the donkey is his play buddy and they are very entertaining to watch.

Tim, a White goat wearing a red collar walking across a wooden bridge covered in autumn leaves with trees in the background.

Timmy – (Tiny Tim, Tim Tam, and sometimes Tim the Terrible)   - he is a Nigerian goat, but don’t tell him, he thinks he is a horse.   He is white in the winter and has caramel coloured markings in the summer.  Tim acts as the ambassador to the farm, always ready to greet new people.

Rose, a grey miniature horse with a speckled coat standing in a grassy pasture with trees in the background.

Rosie – (Minnie Rose Bud)  Rosie was born with dwarfism and although she gets around just like everyone else, she is very tiny.  Her colouring is appaloosa.  Rosie teaches us about self care, as with her condition she requires special care.  She is very careful around people and watches from a distance before she decides who she wants to greet.   She comes from New York State, my American Beauty and is now 5 years old.

Bella, a white miniature horse with a long mane walking through fallen autumn leaves outdoors.

Bella (Arabella) – I first heard about Bella when she was 16 and homeless. The SPCA had confiscated her after a bad situation, and she was moving through the system. I welcomed her here without hesitation; however, I soon learned she was blind due to previously untreated injuries and cataracts. Bella has become the herd's nurturer. It is special to watch how Honey, as protector, runs beside her to keep her safe. Now 20 years old, she is doing really well.

Miracle, a brown miniature horse with a light mane appearing to smile while standing in a grassy pasture with trees behind.

Miri – (Miracle) has stunning red fur with a golden mane.   I understand in her youth she was trained and competed as a show horse.   Unfortunately, situations changed and she went to a couple of rescues.  The rescue in BC knew that I was taking in tiny horses, so they contacted me, and she took the journey here.   Now at 18 years old, this sassy girl is a talker and lets the herd know what’s going on, where the hay is or what gate to which meadow is open.

Chester, a brown miniature donkey with large ears and a white muzzle standing outdoors in a grassy pasture with trees behind.

Chester – (Chester Bean)  - a micro miniature Mediterranean donkey, male (Jack).   Chester is a very sweet, curious soul.   He was a breeding donkey and spent 5 years of his life in a small stall.   He has been at the farm for 2 years, now gelded and roams the property with the herd acting as their guardian.   His love is Sweet Pea.

Sweet Pea – is also a micro miniature Mediterranean donkey -  female (Jennet).  She came to us as she was too small to breed.   She is a lovely, affectionate little one, that adores all the horses and is inseparable with Chester.   Even with her tiny stature, she also takes on the role of herd guardian.
